Both my daughter and I take riding lessons at Willowbend. All of their horses are easy to catch from the field. I never worry if I'll be mis-matched to the horse because the instructors have a keen sense of what's the right amount of challenge for your ability. There are several horses suited to beginners, those learning to trot and canter, and more advanced students who show on equestrian teams. The instructors make sure you learn all the important parts of riding -- like tacking up and grooming. The "lesson hour" is just that -- you come early to groom and tack, and ride for a full hour. No skimping, like I've found at other barns. They have great summer camps, complete with swimming, horse-dress-up and games. If you live in Northern VA or Southern MD I highly recommend Willowbend horse farm.
Wonderful barn with wonderful people. Great horses. Indoor and outdoor riding avaliable. This barn really does have an amazing atmosphere. Emily and Laura are just amazing.
